Miami Museum Month

Events

Did you know that May 1st is the beginning of Miami Museum Month? Miami Museum Month is a great opportunity to go museum hopping in Miami, and to take advantage of the city’s unique cultural scene. This week, I have an event recommendation from the The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in North Miami.

In honor of this Russian exhibition, MOCA invites guests to VECHERINKA, an exciting evening mixer featuring Russian delicacies, a vodka tasting and music. Guests can enjoy a conversational VIP tour with exhibition artist Ekaterina Khromin.

VECHERINKA
Thursday, May 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person; $5 for MOCA members and North Miami residents.
Free for MOCA Shakers.

Other events happening in May at MOCA:

Saturday, May 6, 2-4 p.m.: Creative Arts 4 Kids

  • MOCA offers a monthly series of creative art classes for kids ages 6 through 12 known as Creative Arts 4 Kids, occurring the first Saturday of every month from 2-4 p.m. For May, the theme is Splashes and Drips inspired by Jackson Pollock. The activity for the children is large-scale floor painting.

Friday, May 26, 8 p.m.: Jazz at MOCA

  • The Haiti Jazz Roots Project, an electric blend of outstanding musicians performing jazz-infused folkloric Haitian music, will be performing on Friday, May 26 at 8 p.m. at MOCA’s free monthly outdoor concert.
