I had an absolutely amazing dinner at Kona Grill and can’t wait to share it with you! I apologize in advance for multiple photos of the same dish, the food was just so beautiful to photograph, and even more delicious! I was invited in for a tasting and excited to try their Picasso Roll (photos later). My friend, Steven happily joined me for this food adventure, and here we go!
The inside of Kona Grill has a casual, yet sophisticated vibe, and would be perfect for an intimate, romantic dinner.
We started things off with this flavorful Tropical Mango Punch.
Spicy Shrimp Tempura, Avocado Egg rolls, and Potstickers. All three appetizers were amazing! My favorites in order of preference: Avocado egg rolls with honey-cilantro dipping sauce (I have a weakness for honey and cilantro), the potstickers (seared chicken & vegetable dumplings, asian slaw, traditional soy dipping sauce), and the Spicy Shrimp Tempura – very tasty, and spicy.
Next round: sushi!
This is what I came for! The Picasso Roll. And I must say, it did not disappoint. It was delightfully pleasing to the eye, and even more enjoyable to eat. Described on the menu as: Spicy yellowtail, avocado, yellowtail, jalapeño, cilantro, togarashi, sriracha, yuzu ponzu.
Warning: It is spicy! So spicy loving foodies will appreciate this Picasso sushi roll. You can tame down the spice by removing the jalapeño.
Philadelphia Roll (smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber )
Second round of drinks:
Very tender and well seasoned NY Strip steak with house mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables
Macadamia nut chicken with house mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, shoyu cream, pineapple-papaya marmalade
Everything so far was unbelievably fabulous – the appetizers, sushi rolls, entrees, and the drinks. Then came dessert. All I have to say is: Oh. My. God!
Steven chose the Butter Cake. When he first ordered it, I thought – that sounds so simple, and unexciting – but wow, it was very smooth, with a soothing combination of raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Ladies and gentlemen! I’d like to introduce you to…The Snickers Ice Cream Pie. As wonderful as Steven’s butter cake was, this was the king of all desserts for me! Maybe it is because I’ve always had a weakness for Snickers Ice cream bars, I don’t know. But this was love at first sight for me.
The Snickers Cream Pie is described as: oreo crust, snickers and vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce, with fresh whipped cream. Yes!
What a delightful dining experience! Our server, Dustin was also very cheerful and helpful. I was so thrilled with my dining experience at Kona Grill, that I partnered with Kona Grill to offer YOU a chance to win a dinner for two to experience all that Kona Grill has to offer! They are located at The Dolphin Mall in Doral at 11401 NW 12th St, Miami, FL 33172. They are definitely worth a visit!
Make sure to come back tomorrow. I will have all the details for your chance to enter, and win a dinner for 2 at Kona Grill!

July 27, 2016 at 5:02 pmThat looks like an incredible meal — where in the heck do you put it all? It’s a bit far for me, coming from Boca, but we get down to Miami on occasion and I’m putting this on our TO DO list — OMG – those cocktails!!!! BTW – your photos/blog pages are loading much faster – whatever you did, it worked!
