You’re Invited to the Free Unveiling of Project 305

On Saturday, October 21st, experience the world premiere of New World Symphony’s Project 305, the WALLCAST concert unveiling the crowd-sourced symphony representing life and culture in Miami. The project was launched in January by New World Symphony, MIT Media Lab and The Knight Foundation. And you are invited to experience this momentous and free event at the New World Center in Miami Beach, this Saturday.

Project 305 is based on over 1,000 sounds and video submissions from Miami locals, and was used to create the final work by Ted Hearne, Jonathan David Kane and Michael Tilson Thomas titled: Miami in Movements.

Arrive before the concert, to enjoy backstage tours of the world-renowned Frank Gehry-designed New World Center, a 360-degree virtual reality experience of Miami’s most beloved neighborhoods and numerous pre-performance concerts. The WALLCAST will also be streamed on Facebook Live, so that those unable to attend can still tune-in for the excitement.

5:00 PM: Doors of the New World Center open to the public
5:00 – 7:00 PM: Immersive VR neighborhood experiences inside New World Center
5:15 – 5:30 PM: 1st backstage tour of New World Center
5:45 – 6:00 PM: 2nd backstage tour of New World Center
5:45 – 6:05 PM: Pre-concert performance on SoundScape Park plaza by Miami Music Project
6:15-7 PM: Pre-concert chat moderated by WLRN’s Tom Hudson in the New World Center’s
SunTrust Pavilion with composer Ted Hearne and filmmaker Jonathan David Kane
6:35 – 6:55: Pre-concert performance on SoundScape Park plaza by Young Musicians Unite
7:00 PM: Concert hall doors open (for ticketholders)
7:30: Concert (indoor) and WALLCAST® concert (outdoor) begins

Night out in Miami, New World Symphony Holiday Concert

Growing up, my parents strongly encouraged my sister and I to get involved in the arts. I played the piano, was part of a singing group, while my sister was part of the same singing group, and also a local dance group. I recently rediscovered my love for the arts, and joined the Friends of New World Symphony. Friends of New World Symphony promotes classical music to young music lovers, and philanthropists via education, community initiatives, and chic social events.

Last week, I attended Friends of New World Symphony’s Top Hats & Tinsel Holiday Party at Vizcaya Museum:

The next event I attended was New World Symphony’s Holiday Concert (Sounds of the Season) at the New World Center in Miami Beach. If I had to use two words to describe Sounds of the Season, they would be spectacular and nostalgic. Each performance gave me goosebumps, and transported me to joyful Christmas memories.

To commemorate my first major event with New World Sympony, I wore:
